Hello ๐๐พ! My name is Kenneth Jackson and I currently am an Assistant Professor of Human Factors and Applied Psychology at Loyola Marymount University. Broadly speaking, my research and interests are centered around the following questions:
๐ค How can novel technologies be safely and strategically implemented in operational environments such that the capabilities and limitations of workers be taken into technological design considerations using a human-centered design approach?
แฏ How can virtual and mixed reality (VR & AR) be leveraged to mimic high-risk and high-cost environments allowing for the measurement and understanding of human peformance at earlier stages of system development (ex. introducing automation, robots, AR displays, etc. to work environments)?
๐ฎ How game engines and game design principles can be used to create more ecologically valid experiments, but also experiments that are... more FUN and ENGAGING, paving the way for more quantitative measures to enhance our understanding of human behavior and subsequent technological development?
In a nutshell, I am a researcher with a passion for understanding and solving the problems associated with the design and implementation of new technologies, ensuring that user needs are prioritized. One of my greatest strengths as a human factors researcher and engineer is my unique background and skill set. With expertise in both academic and applied settings, multidisciplinary education, and experience in a variety of fields, I offer a distinctive perspective on engaging with the world of human factors, combining the roles of pioneer, student, and teacher.
Feel free to explore this website to learn more about my contributions and goals within the field of human factors and applied psychology. Most importantly, I invite anyone with similar interests to contact me directly. If you are interested in collaboration of any kind, I would love to work with you!
